REGISTERING ALTERNATES

Each chapter may register alternates for any contest that has a limit. The alternate is required to submit a Form D along with the registration form and is required to pay the registration fee if the primary contestant has not paid.

Only “Alternates” that have been submitted with the original registration form and have a Form D on file will be eligible to compete at the contest in the event one of your primary contestants is unable to attend.

Changes to contestant participation should be sent to REGISTRATION@NVSKILLSUSA.ORG before

No on-site name changes will be allowed unless they are registered as an alternate.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Fifty percent (50%) of the registration fees will be reimbursed for deletions that are done more than seven (7) days prior to the day the conference / contest officially commences.” Cancellations done within 7 days of the conference are non-refundable.

Each contest has costs associated with it that are incurred for materials, supplies, consumables, etc. that is purchased well in advance of the contest based on registration numbers provided to them. In an effort to prevent the association from losing money on these contests, we ask that you remit payment for registrations guaranteed by your chapter.

CONTEST LIMITS

Each Regional contest has a limit on the number of contestants allowed per school/chapter to register. If the registration numbers come in higher than the survey results indicated, the contest limits per school may be reduced to ensure the quality and/or safety of the contest. If there is a reduction in contest limits, you will be notified immediately after the registration closes.

POST-SECONDARY REGISTRATION

SkillsUSA Nevada allows for 2 slots for each post-secondary school per State contest. This precludes them from competing at Regionals and provides post-secondary schools the opportunity to have an in-house competition to determine who will represent them at State. All policies organization-wide are reviewed annually.

Personal Liability and Medical Release, Code of Conduct, Photo/Sound Release Form (Form D)

All participants, students and advisors, must complete a Personal Liability and Medical Release, Code of Conduct and Photo/Sound Release Form. By signing the front side of this form, students are agreeing to the provisions of the code of conduct. Please take time to review the code of conduct with all students.

Students will not be permitted to participate without a Form D signed and submitted to the state association.

Scan forms, save as PDF and submit completed forms to REGISTRATION@NVSKILLSUSA.ORG

REGIONAL QUALIFICATION TO ATTEND STATE CONFERENCE

Example of how qualifying for State will take place:

As an example, a state contest has a maximum of 40 secondary slots available at the state level. If the contest limit of 4 per school for Regionals, we could have 18 students in the southern region and 46 students in the northern region competing for the 40 spots at state. By using the formula below, this would mean that 11 from the south and 29 from the north would qualify. (EXAMPLE ONLY)

Formula for determining qualifying numbers from each Regional:

18 / 64 x 40 = 11 (18 students from south competing divided by 64 total registered statewide times 40 total slots at state equals number qualifying from the southern regional = 11)

CONTEST INFORMATION & UPDATES

Contest updates will be posted on the association website as they are submitted by Contest Chairs. It is the responsibility of the contestant to check the website until the day of the contest for any applicable updates. Failure to check the website is not a valid excuse for missing information.
