About Us
60 Years of Champions at Work
Representing more than 2,000 Career and Technical Education students and teachers, SkillsUSA chapters thrive in high schools and college/postsecondary institutions throughout Nevada. Our mission is accomplished through the SkillsUSA Framework of Personal Skills, Workplace Skills and Technical Skills Grounded in Academics, which is integrated into classroom curriculum.
Through the Framework, SkillsUSA students hone their hands-on skills against current industry standards in more than 100 occupational areas, from 3D Animation to Welding and nearly everything in between. At the same time, they develop the transformative career-readiness skills — teamwork, communication, professionalism, leadership and more — that fuel career and life success.
A vital solution to the ongoing skills gap, where more highly skilled jobs are available than skilled professionals ready to fill them, SkillsUSA has served over 15 million diverse, difference-making members since 1965.
Our Events
Fall Leadership Conference
The Fall Leadership Conference held in Elko or Las Vegas brings chapter officers from throughout Nevada to a central location for training on many topics, including Chapter Leadership.
State Leadership & Skills Conference
The State Leadership and Skills Conference brings students from nearly all Career and Technical Education Programs to competition at the state level. If students earn GOLD here, they move on to the National Conference.
National Leadership & Skills Conference
SkillsUSA’s National Leadership & Skills Conference (NLSC) is the largest gathering of America’s future skilled workforce and the ultimate recognition of excellence in career and technical education. Held in Atlanta each June, the NLSC is a week-long celebration of the skilled trades and the accomplishments of career-ready leaders from across the United States. The event brings together more than 19,000 attendees, including students, instructors, industry partners, government officials, administrators and more. The highlight of the NLSC is the SkillsUSA Championships, where more than 6,500 state champions compete for national gold, silver and bronze medals in 114 skilled and leadership competitions.
Other highlights include the largest technical education trade show in the nation in SkillsUSA TECHSPO, an excitement-fueled Opening Session, transformative leadership training, insightful workshops and seminars, an impactful community service project to benefit city children and, to end the event, a tears-of-joy-inducing Awards Ceremony.
