Welcome Back from State Director

Welcome back to an exciting 2017-2018 school year.  We have an incredible team of student leaders representing our organization as the 2017-2018 State Officer team.  They have been working hard on behalf of our members and they have exciting plans for the coming year!


I wish you all the best as we move into the fall season and as you continue to lift up students through Career and Technical Education and SkillsUSA. This informational letter is an effort to keep you up to date about what is happening in SkillsUSA, state events and new items for the school year.  Thank you for your dedication to your students so that they can take advantage of all of the opportunities available to them through SkillsUSA membership.  Have a great start to the new school year!

If your contact information has changed (school, e-mail address, phone number, etc.), please let me know.  Please also let me know who will be the Lead Advisor at your school for the 2017-2018 school year.  As the Lead Advisor you will be responsible for communicating with everyone from your school regarding information sent out by Nevada SkillsUSA. 


Item #1- National Leadership and Skills Conference (NLSC)

Contestants, advisors, parents, observers and delegates from SkillsUSA Nevada had a great trip out to Louisville, KY for the National Leadership and Skills Conference!  Nevada was well represented by our State Champions and we returned with 10 Medals, 17 students receiving 4th – 10th place and 43 of our students received Skills Point Certificates.

The current calendar for July 2017 through June 2018 is attached and can also be found on our website atwww.nvskillsusa.org


Item #3 – Conference Registration Materials

All Conference Registration Materials will be posted on the website as they become available.

Fall Leadership Conference will be November 2nd – 4th, in Elko, NV.

Registration will be on line and at www.skillsusa.org and will open on September 18th.


Item #4 – Membership Reporting Process/ Affiliation Information


Register at least 15 student members plus one or more professionals by Nov. 15, 2017, and you will receive a free Membership Incentive.


Membership Kits will automatically be sent to all chapters that were affiliated last school year.

If you need a Membership Kit, please request a copy by emailing sread@washoeschools.net


Membership submission instructions are in the Membership Kit.
